Surf escapes

Retreat to Nicaragua

When I first started to learn how to surf... and two years on, I am still learning, I headed solo to Nicaragua on a ladies only surf retreat. I packed my bags and headed for San Juan Del Sur for two weeks of adventure.

I can not recommend it highly enough.

I decided to learn how to surf as I had a huge fear of the ocean. I was living in Bondi, Australia yet wouldn't get jump into the waves for a dip as I was petrified of their sheer force and unpredictability.

I refuse to be scared of something, small kids were out there.. so I took the challenge face on.

Immersing yourself in a retreat is the best way to improve your skills, make the most amazing friends and see somewhere you might not usually travel to. Chicabrava were great at doing all of the above. Our days would consist of hearty breakfasts, coffee.. Followed by a morning surf session..perhaps a cheeky afternoon drink and some more surfing. Each day would usually end with some sundowners on the beach.

Even writing about it, I miss that place. If you are looking for a new adventure.. head over to Chicabrava
